ENF Technology Co. Ltd., a South Korea-based electronic material manufacturer that provides parts to Samsung and the U.S. high-tech market, is set to break ground on a $45 million U.S. headquarters and advanced manufacturing facility in Kyle’s Plum Creek in 2019.
The announcement comes after Hays County commissioners and Kyle City Council approved performance-based economic incentive agreements on March 26 that will give ENF Technology a five-year property tax rebate beginning at 75 percent of real and personal property taxes. The rebate will then decline by 10 percent annually until the end of the agreement’s term.
According to city and county officials, ENF Technology’s investment is expected to bring the city of Kyle $598,506 while also bringing Hays County $401,602. Additionally, Hays CISD is expected to receive $747,602 as a result of the project by the end of the five-year agreement. The headquarters will be built south of Kohlers Crossing and west of I-35.
ENF Technology’s Kyle headquarters is set to make electronics for Samsung Austin Semiconductor, GlobalFoundries, Micron, Texas Instruments and Intel.
“We selected Kyle for our first U.S. headquarters and manufacturing facility because it offers a business-friendly environment and great workforce near our major customer in Austin,” WJ Yang, general manager of ENF, stated in a March 27 press release. “The Plum Creek community will provide our workers and their families access to affordable housing, high-quality schools and an outstanding quality of life.”
The approximately 100,000-square-foot facility, set to be completed in 2020, will be built on a 25-acre property with room for expansion. The company will start with 45-50 workers and could eventually employ 80.
“ENF’s decision to locate in Kyle highlights our region’s ability to attract technology focused foreign direct investment to the Texas Innovation Corridor” stated Adriana Cruz, president of the Greater San Marcos Partnership, in the release. “This win would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of Kyle Economic Development, and the city of Kyle and Hays County staff and elected officials.”
Hays County Commissioner Mark Jones stated in the release that he believes ENF Technology will make a lasting impact on the area.
“Hays County is thrilled to welcome a new employer to our region,” Jones stated. “We believe that this announcement will bring economic benefits to our region that will be felt for decades.”
