San Antonio’s Gemini Ambulance Service Inc. has new ownership. Allegiance Mobile Health, whose investor lineup includes San Antonio businessman Red McCombs, has acquired the medical transport company.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Allegiance, which has its headquarters in Georgetown, Texas, near Austin, was already one of the largest providers of medical transport and 911 emergency services in the state. The company operates more than 300 emergency vehicles out of 30-plus stations.

With its acquisition of Gemini, Allegiance now expects to serve a population of more than 15 million Texans.

McCombs said one of the reasons he decided to partner with Allegiance was because of the company’s vision for the future of EMS services. Now, that company will have a strong presence in his home city.
